Is PingPing really free?
Yes! The free plan is free forever — you get 1 guardian, email notifications, SOS emergency via email, and full battery/offline monitoring. No credit card required. Upgrade to a paid plan for SMS alerts, voice call notifications, more guardians, and two-way guardianship.
Does my guardian need to install an app?
No. That's one of our core design principles. Your guardians receive alerts via voice call, SMS, and email — they don't need to download anything. This means even your 70-year-old parents or non-tech-savvy friends can be your guardians.
Does PingPing track my location?
No. PingPing only shares your location during emergencies — when you trigger SOS or when an anomaly (low battery, offline too long) is detected. There is zero daily tracking or location recording. Your privacy is our priority.
What happens when my SMS quota runs out?
Your protection never stops. When SMS or voice quota is exhausted, all alerts automatically fall back to email notifications. SOS always works — free users send SOS via email, paid users via SMS + voice call + email. You're never left unprotected.
Can I use PingPing to protect my elderly parents?
Absolutely. Install PingPing on your parent's iPhone, add yourself as their guardian. If their phone battery dies, if they go offline for too long, or if they trigger SOS, you'll receive a voice call, SMS, or email immediately. They don't need to do anything — PingPing works silently in the background.
What's the difference between free and paid plans?
The free plan sends all alerts via email. Basic adds SMS notifications. Standard adds voice call alerts for SOS emergencies and two-way guardianship. Premium unlocks voice calls for all alert types, up to 15 guardians, and priority support. See the pricing section above for full details.
Is PingPing available on Android?
PingPing is currently available on iOS (iPhone). An Android version is planned for 2027. However, your guardians can use any phone — they receive alerts via voice calls, SMS, and email, not through an app.
How does offline detection work?
PingPing regularly sends a "heartbeat" signal to our server. If the server doesn't receive a heartbeat for your configured period (1-12 hours), it considers you offline and sends an alert to your guardians. This detects scenarios like phone being turned off, no internet access, or being in a dead zone.
How do voice call alerts work?
When an emergency is triggered, PingPing automatically calls your guardians and speaks the alert details in their language (9 languages supported). The message is repeated twice to ensure they hear it. Standard plan includes 5 voice calls/month for SOS only; Premium includes 15 calls/month for all alert types. Note: Voice calls are not available for Mainland China (+86) phone numbers due to carrier restrictions — SMS and email are used instead.
What phone number format is required?
All phone numbers must be in international format with a country code (e.g. +1 for US, +86 for China, +81 for Japan). The app provides a country code picker to make this easy — just select your country and enter the local number.
